The Sammie Awards 2019

I had the pleasure of being invited back to shoot the British Sandwich Design Awards last week ‘The Sammies’. I love this event for a few reasons … lovely clients, people and lovely food! It’s also very challenging as I have to have various setups ready to go from candid food prep shots to food photography of the final dish, then a portrait of the designer with their dish on the branding wall before they go up to present the judging panel … all in a conveyor belt of fast flowing shooting … fast, fun and foody! Judging headed up by the one and only Theo Randall. Culinary master and bloody nice chap!

Well ... 'Hello'

The Michelin Stars turn out at L'Autre Pied for Slow Food Week 2014

Last night I was invited to photograph a rather special 'foody' event for my client David Moore; owner of Michelin restaurants - Pied-a-terre and L'Autre Pied in central London. The event was held for Slow Food Week 2014, featuring a 'Forgotten foods' menu by top Michelin chefs, Tom Aikens, Tom Van Zeller, Francesco Mazzei and Andy McFadden who were all rubbing shoulders with each other down in the kitchen of L'Autre Pied. It was great being down in the kitchen with these guys and their assistants. Things get pretty hot down there. One of the many things that I LOVE about doing food photography and working around these guys is their energy and passion. One of the the other things I also love about food photography is getting to sometimes have a taste! ;)

Yummy! Food photography definitely has its perks!

A quick preview from yesterdays shoot for restaurateur Mr David Moore @, owner of Pied-a-Terre and L'Autre Pied Michelin star restaurants in London. The shoot for David was for his new restaurant soon to be opening near Marylebone Lane... more to follow soon.

The Workers

1 shot from a recent photography commission where I had to highlight 'the people behind the places' around Carnaby Street in London. I love these sort of jobs.... where you need to blend in with people very quickly, so they forget and be themselves.... armed with my beloved Fuji X-Pro1 I was able to quietly click away... I hope you can feel the Intensity that i felt watching this head chef working away.

Food Fight at Verru

Yesterday i was back to the amazing Verru restaurant in London's Marylebone Lane! Except this time for some slightly different 'profile shots' of the owner, 'Andrei' and his merry band of men! Andrei said he didn't want to have boring, serious portraits, so wanted to try something a tad 'different'.... at the mere mention of a food fight, the boys seemed ready for it... as you can see.... this is all in jest and their obvious great relationship is plain to see!! As i've already said.... the food here is amazing and so are the people.... get down there!! 2012-11-21_0002.jpg 2012-11-21_0012.jpg 2012-11-21_0006.jpg 2012-11-21_0005.jpg 2012-11-21_0004.jpg 2012-11-21_0003.jpg 2012-11-21_0009.jpg 2012-11-21_0010.jpg 2012-11-21_0011.jpg 2012-11-21_0008.jpg 2012-11-21_0007.jpg 2012-11-21_0013.jpg 2012-11-21_0014.jpg 2012-11-21_0015.jpg

This is Posh nosh at very, very reasonable prices i must add! Food photography is all about making it look beautiful and inviting, so I hope you feel hungry now!?

If you fancy a nibble yourself, get down to Marylebone lane and taste the Verru cuisine. its delightful! 2012-11-16_0001.jpg 2012-11-16_0002.jpg 2012-11-16_0003.jpg 2012-11-16_0004.jpg 2012-11-16_0005.jpg 2012-11-16_0006.jpg 2012-11-16_0007.jpg 2012-11-16_0008.jpg 2012-11-16_0009.jpg 2012-11-16_0010.jpg 2012-11-16_0011.jpg 2012-11-16_0012.jpg 2012-11-16_0014.jpg

Picture of the day - 'Feeding Time'

I was working for my fave restaurant yesterday in central London doing their seasonal website update shoot... I love this job for a few reasons, but mainly - great people and great food! whist running about like a mad man between the kitchen and the set, i saw this cutlery thrown into a basket and couldn't help seeing how beautiful it all looked in its chaotic criss crossing entangled mess. Hope you like :-) Enjoy!

Food Glorious Food at 'One Blenheim Terrace'

Sometimes my work, just really isn't work!! ;) I had the pleasure of shooting the very swish and new restaurant 'One Blenheim Terrace' in London's St Johns Wood this week. Owner, head chef, and top guy 'Ed' was there with equally top guy and sous chef 'Stuart' to prepare some amazing dishes for photographing. The restaurant itself has a beautiful, elegant and calm feel... It has a huge glass roof to the frontage making life for me much easier with an abundance of natural light available... I have to confess, i did have a few nibbles and got totally stuck into the Wellington!!! It was STUNNING!! .... Hope they need me back there again very soon to update the new forthcoming site!! ... enjoy and go visit them, you will be very pleasantly surprised.
